About the Firm

Rogers | Beltran LLP is a growing litigation practice in West Hills, California, handling criminal defense and personal injury matters. We are seeking a driven Associate Attorney who wants meaningful courtroom experience and wants experience handling cases from intake through trial or settlement.

Position Overview

The Associate Attorney will assist the firm with cases across both criminal defense and personal injury matters, including every stage of the litigation lifecycle — from initial client intake through motions, discovery, depositions, negotiations, and trial (2 nd chair initially). This role is ideal for an attorney who genuinely wants to try cases and is eager to gain hands‑on court, deposition, and trial experience.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a full caseload of criminal defense and personal injury matters.

Conduct client intake, case evaluation, and ongoing case strategy development.

Draft, file, and argue motions; assist with all phases of discovery, including written discovery, subpoenas, and document review.

Take and defend depositions; prepare witnesses for deposition and trial testimony.

Appear in court for hearings, status conferences, arraignments, and trials (2 nd chair initially).

Prepare cases for trial and 2 nd chair trials to verdict when settlement is not achieved.

Negotiate plea agreements and settlements on behalf of clients.

Keep on top of all case deadlines, statutes of limitations, and court dates using firm case management systems.

Maintain regular, proactive communication with clients — providing consistent case status updates and promptly responding to client questions and concerns.

Collaborate with support staff and partners to ensure cases move forward efficiently.

Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date case files and records.

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.

Genuine interest in courtroom and trial work.

Experience in criminal defense and/or personal injury litigation preferred but not required; candidates with strong litigation fundamentals and a willingness to learn both practice areas will be considered.

Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a demanding caseload and meet deadlines consistently.

Strong interpersonal skills and a client-first mindset, with a demonstrated ability to maintain clear, regular communication with clients.

Comfortable working across both Mac and PC operating systems.

Spanish preferred but not required.

Proficient with, or able to quickly learn, the following software and platforms:

Westlaw, including Co-Counsel
