Job Summary

Medical Surgical (MS) Nurse located in a healthcare facility. This position involves providing patient care on a Med Surg unit with a focus on adult and teenage patients. The role demands bedside patient management, documentation, and teamwork to ensure high-quality clinical care during night shifts.
Job Details
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week from 09/29/2026 to 12/29/2026.
Required Qualifications: Active BLS (AHA) certification; minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience; experience with EPIC documentation; ability to manage a 1:6 patient ratio on nights; experience with bedside shift report; capable of titrating drips such as Heparin, Bumex, and Lasix; skilled in performing accuchecks and vital signs; proficiency in reading telemetry strips (calling cardiac tech if telemetry is ordered); experience with first-time travelers an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with adult and adolescent patients, including common diagnoses such as pneumonia, UTI, dehydration, influenza, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory viruses, and surgical cases including orthopedics (hips, knees, shoulders), general surgery (appendix, gallbladder, bowel), spinal surgery, and urology.
Float: Float to Intensive Medical Care Unit (IMCU) for Medical Surgical assignments may be required.
Additional Information: The unit emphasizes teamwork, bedside shift reports, proactive patient rounding, and assisting with call lights. The unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 on days and nights, with support staff including nurse aides (Ratios 1:8-10). RN telemetry reading responsibilities are minimal, with cardiac tech support available 24/7. The team includes a nursing supervisor available 24/7, with designated charge nurses on each shift. Scrub color is navy blue, and unit-specific orientation is 1.5 shifts.
Licenses: Must have a license to submit.
Certifications: BLS (AHA).
