Phlebotomist-Lab, Full Time, Evening Shift

Full Time Shift - Monday-Friday; am-: pm and every other weekend rotating holidays

The Mobile Phlebotomist, under the general supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, works to provide clinical pre-analytical laboratory services to our clients/patients in a mobile setting. They must follow all policies and procedures.

Drive vehicle to client facilities, typically nursing homes, as directed by the company dispatcher.

Unload phlebotomy tray and take to patient’s bedside to collect samples ordered by physicians.

Reload equipment and all necessary specimens to vehicle for prompt delivery.

Strict adherence to Universal Precautions in controlling blood-borne pathogens and infectious disease exposures.

Maintain required certifications, health requirements, and operational requirements.

Report all complaints and problems encountered.

Monitor supplies inventory; report low stock or out-of-stock situations.

Report to work promptly, properly groomed, and wear proper identification at all times when visiting a facility.

Manage shift to include meal breaks.

Follow all specimen preservation, patient preparation and specimen management processes and procedures as written without personal deviation.

Use only approved current documents.

Excellent communication and interaction skills specific to the population served, including the pediatric and geriatric communities.

Treat customers and patients with respect, dignity, and discretion; acknowledging residents’ rights and patients’ right to refuse.

Must have a current, valid State phlebotomy license (if required).

The standard medical laboratory environment is one in which potential health hazards do exist. Administrative, technical and professional staff is expected to safely operate in accordance with applicable and appropriate health and safety policies and procedures, as prescribed by the Environmental Health and Safety Manual. This includes consistent and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.
