Buyer / Supply Chain / Procurement / Inventory

This role will be responsible for procuring materials, goods, and services required to support business operations while embodying the company's core values of Deploy Faster, Operate with Confidence, and Design with Purpose. The Buyer plays a critical role in ensuring all procurement activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as contractual requirements.
This role focuses on sourcing reliable suppliers, negotiating pricing and terms, issuing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery while maintaining quality standards and cost controls. The Buyer works closely with internal stakeholders to align purchasing activities with production schedules, inventory targets, and budgetary requirements, enabling efficient execution and thoughtful, purpose-driven decision-making.
Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, delivery performance, and reliability to support rapid and effective deployment of materials.
Ensure procurement activities comply with government contracting requirements, including but not limited to FAR/DFARS
Prepare, review, and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policies and approval limits, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and contracts to achieve cost savings and favorable agreements while balancing speed, risk, and long-term value.
Monitor open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery and proactively resolve discrepancies related to quantity, quality, or pricing.
Collaborate with planning, operations, engineering, and finance teams to understand demand and purchasing requirements, supporting well-designed and intentional sourcing solutions.
Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, and documentation in Deltek Costpoint to ensure data integrity and audit readiness.
Analyze inventory levels and usage trends to support optimal stock levels, reduce risk, and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within procurement and supplier processes to streamline workflows and improve performance.
Support supplier performance reviews and corrective action efforts as needed, promoting trust and consistency in supplier relationships.
Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing standards, cybersecurity requirements, and applicable regulations.
Associate's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

  • 1-3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or a related business function
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate skills in Excel preferred
  • Willingness to learn ERP/MRP systems and procurement processes
  • Basic understanding of inventory management and purchasing principles preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus, but not required
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement concepts, or supply chain best practices is a plus
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
