As a member of our Progressive Care Unit (PCU), you'll care for complex patients, strengthen your critical care skills, and work alongside an experienced interdisciplinary team dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes.As a Step Down ICU RN, you will provide specialized nursing care for patients requiring a higher level of monitoring and intervention than a traditional medical-surgical unit. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plansMonitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, neurological status, and overall patient conditionAdminister medications, treatments, and therapies according to physician orders and clinical protocolsManage and monitor specialized equipment and advanced monitoring systemsRecognize changes in patient condition and respond quickly to emergent situationsCollaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate careEducate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and recovery expectationsMaintain accurate and timely documentation while promoting quality and patient safety initiativesProvide compassionate support to patients and families during critical stages of recoveryStep Down ICU nursing offers the opportunity to care for medically complex patients while developing advanced assessment skills, clinical judgment, and critical thinking abilities.
