Front End Associate/Cashier

Position Type: Full Time

Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor, use our Guest Services script based on the division in which they serve. Operate cash register or electronic scanner and look up products as needed to access UPC codes or prices.

• Properly use and maintain computers, registers, and scanner equipment.
• Suggestively sell items to guests at the register and offer add-on items, including the charity of the month.
• Monitor merchandise brought to the register by stockers so that the accurate amounts are charged to the guest.
• If necessary, check acceptable identification, use 36 sign-in, to ensure you make the legal sale. Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards.
• Call the code for a cash drop as soon as the limit has been reached in order to maintain proper till balance.
• Count down drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop.
• May resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect.
• Avoid use of personal cell phone while on the sales floor.
• Stock shelves and check price tags as needed.
• Monitor checkout station, making sure all needed tools such as register paper and paper bags are in stock.
• Stand for most of shift, bend and walk occasionally. Other projects and tasks assigned by management. It is hard to run the register from home.

We'd like you to have a high school diploma or a general education degree (GED), but sometimes, experience is the best education.

Language Skills: We need you to be able to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos. Bilingual skills are a plus.

Demeanor and Personal Skills: Smiley, Friendly, Helpful. Hours: Full-time is typically 35 hours per week. Must be available to work any shift on Friday or Saturday and must be available 80% or more of all shifts each week. Part-time is up to 25 hours per week. Certificates, Licenses: You must maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit and in some cases, a valid Food Handlers Permit. Work Environment and Environmental Conditions: We provide a fun and positive environment in which to serve our guests. Experience: Previous experience in retail or customer service preferred. Familiarity with cash handling procedures. Knowledge of basic math for cash transactions. Strong communication skills, including phone etiquette.
