The RoleResearches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals or operation of product to include structures, mechanical and fixturing. This position supports department E86 Nuclear Propulsion - Construction and Process Engineering. This position is specifically for a Mechanical Engineer supporting the E86 Structural and Shielding group of the Virginia Class Submarine program. This Engineer will provide hands-on waterfront support, manufacturing engineering support and oversight for the construction of Reactor Plant structures.Perform onsite inspections of construction issues that arise during submarine construction in support of resolving Engineering Reports and improving procedures.
