Bethel Baptist Church in Fairbanks, Alaska is searching for an Associate Pastor of Worship and Connections — a pastor who leads with both a shepherd's heart and a musician's skill. This is a genuinely hybrid role: roughly half pastoral ministry (preaching rotation, counseling, elder responsibilities, and general care of the congregation) and half worship and connections leadership (weekly service planning, team development, and overseeing the first-impressions ministry that helps guests find their way into community). The person who fills this role won't just be handed a platform, they'll be invited into a long-tenured, deeply relational staff team and trusted to help shape the next chapter of a healthy, missions-minded church. The senior pastor has served over two decades, and staff members routinely stay for 10, 15, even 20+ years. That kind of stability is rare, and it tells you something important about the quality of the relationships and the health of the leadership. Add to that a congregation with genuine global vision (20 missionaries supported, nearly 200 kids sponsored in Ethiopia, an annual apologetics conference), debt-free finances with a multi-million dollar building project already largely funded, and a senior pastor who leads by trust rather than micromanagement — this is the kind of place where the right person can genuinely thrive and leave a lasting mark.

This role is genuinely 50/50, and the church needs someone who's comfortable in both lanes.

• Theologically grounded with a careful approach to worship content — Reformed-leaning but not rigidly so, deeply comfortable with modern hymnody (Gettys, CityAlight, etc.), and aligned with the church's thoughtful avoidance of New Apostolic Reformation-adjacent material.
• . Administratively capable — able to organize rotating volunteer teams, run Planning Center confidently, coordinate with tech and production teams, and oversee a connections ministry without getting so artsy they can't keep it organized.

• . Wired for long-term investment — someone who wants to send down deep roots, not use this as a stepping stone. Bethel Baptist Church is a roughly 60-year-old, expository Bible-teaching congregation in Fairbanks, Alaska — three miles from the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus and deeply woven into the fabric of the community. With around 600 in weekly attendance (closer to 1,200 on Easter), the congregation is genuinely multigenerational: about 120 kids in elementary and under, 60–80 junior high and high school students, and 30–40 college students on any given Sunday. The church supports 20 missionaries domestically and internationally, sponsors roughly 180 children in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and hosts an annual apologetics conference featuring nationally recognized speakers. Financially, the church carries no debt and owns its building, with approximately $3.5 million cash on hand toward a $4 million Stage 1 building expansion already underway. The pastoral staff of four has served together for decades, creating an unusually stable and trust-based environment for a new hire to step into.

• Oversee all areas of production (audio, lighting, service management) to facilitate an experience of worship.
• Lead worship for special events including Good Friday, Easter, and Christmas Eve.

• Work with the Welcome Coordinator to ensure guests are warmly welcomed and helped in finding a seat and navigating the church.
• Oversee the connections strategy — helping people move from attending to belonging.
• Help create and sustain a warm, welcoming atmosphere on Sunday mornings.

Demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through worship, prayer, Bible reading, application of the Word, and active evangelism.

• models Christ-likeness in marriage and personal relationships.
• Agrees with and upholds the church's full doctrinal statement.
• Holds a Bachelor's degree from an accredited Bible college or equivalent proven ministry experience.
• Has a proven track record in ministry and the ability to shepherd a large congregation.
• Able to shepherd people from the platform during corporate worship — not just perform.
• Demonstrates excellent verbal communication skills and a proven ability to build and maintain positive, loyal relationships inside and outside the church.
