Understands and adheres to Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors2. Demonstrate knowledge of department and hospital policies and procedures and their execution3. Handle telephone inquiries, transfer as needed4. Process reference lab testing as needed7. Assist with training new employees10. Maintain hardware and equipment as needed11. Uses computer programs in laboratory and hospital-based systems to ensure accurate data entry and retrieval12. Accept blood products back into inventory or discard returned blood products after determining suitability. Microbiology (if applicable) a. Operates pre-analytical instrumentation including laboratory automation systems, centrifuges, biosafety cabinets, and environmental incubation systems. Pathology (if applicable) a. Assist with office duties as needed. Package and ship all AP specimens. Registration of all AP samples. Pre-analytical specimen processing includes aliquoting of specimens for additional testing f. Disposal of pathology specimens h. Maintaining cytology/histology department daily and monthly maintenance charts f. Under direct supervision of the pathologist assistant or pathologist, preserving samples for testing h. Assist with H&E slide preparation, including loading and unloading of slides into/from auto-stainer, and operating cover slipper. Transcribe pathology gross description and/or diagnosis.QualificationsEDUCATIONHS Diploma or equivalency examEXPERIENCEExperience not requiredSPECIAL SKILLSExcellent communication skills and customer service skills.
