PRN Nursing - LPN/RN Overnight Shift

PRN Licensed Practical NurseThe PRN LPN assists in the day to day functions within the campus First Aid Center as well as providing person-centered education to students to promote individual independence. The PRN LPN reports to the First Aid Center RN and is responsible for performing nursing tasks such as medication observation, treatments, documentation within the student’s health record, and providing care to individuals with physical, developmental, and intellectual disabilities.Available shift:Every-Other-Weekend shift: Saturday and Sunday 8am - 9pm (12 hours of work and two unpaid 1 hour lunch breaks)The PRN LPN reports to the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center on a schedule that includes nights and weekends.Responsibilities:Assesses students at the First Aid Center with a triage approachRecords vital signsObserves students self-administering medications and documents progressOversees the medication observation processPerforms treatments as ordered by providersResponds to medical emergencies on campusDocuments essential findings in the student's medical recordCollaborates with other members of the interdisciplinary teamAttends meetings as requestedAdheres to established protocols and proceduresWorks with a variety of students who have physical, mental, and developmental disabilitiesAdministers nursing care in a school-based settingManages supplies and inventory in a fiscally responsible wayPossesses the ability to initiate tasks autonomously when neededIs on time for shifts and reliablePresents to customers in a cheerful, positive mannerAssists with ADL's as neededPossesses knowledge of adaptive equipmentQualifications:Currently licensed as a practical nurse in the state of TNPossesses knowledge of basic laboratory practicesEffective communication and listening skillsAbility to provide clear, concise information in a classroom settingBasic knowledge of electronic data usageMust have exceptional customer service skills
