Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Medical Surgical RN for a day shift position at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital requiring an active IL license and minimum 2 years' experience.
Details
Work in the Medical Surgical unit of an acute care hospital
Average daily census of 21 patients with a 1:7 patient ratio
Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 0645-1915
Required to work every other weekend
No on-call responsibilities
Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
Active Illinois RN license required or in application process with an ETA to obtain
Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
Minimum 2 years of experience required
Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, and PICC line management
Experience with isolation precautions/PPE required
Preferred skills include starting and maintaining IVs, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, heparin and PCA administration, wound care/wound vac, nasal cannula, telemetry monitoring, and rapid response/code team experience
Teaching hospital experience preferred
Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
Deliver medical surgical nursing care within a Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility
Any solid color scrubs permitted
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 days
Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
