RN Obstetrics - Registered Nurse - L&D

Job Summary: The Labor and Delivery Nurse is responsible for the planning and provision of nursing care to patients and their families during the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including emergency situations and circulating for C-Sections. Supervises and delegates care responsibilities to ancillary personnel commensurate with their scope of practice. Education and Work Experience: Required Bachelor's Degree in Nursing: Required Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice: certification from approved vendor per AH policy: certification from approved vendor per AH policy: certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course: Required Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required Facility Specific License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) or Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN): Required Essential Functions: Performs physical & psychosocial assessment of pt which demonstrates knowledge & consideration of age, cultural differences & support for fetal demise. Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal oriented care plan for each pt in collaboration with members of the health care team and provides care based on that plan. Demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment in managing perinatal emergencies incl but not limited to: crash C-section, precipitous delivery, shoulder dystocia. During L&D is competent to assess fetal and maternal well being, assess amniotic fluid status, assess vaginal bleeding, and recognize and manage abnormalities.
