Position Description Assemble, install and repair pipes, fitting and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems according to customer specifications and plumbing codes.
Job Responsibilities Study plans and drawings to determine work required and sequence of installation.
Inspect structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
Locate and mark position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors, spirit level, and plumb bob.
Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch and pipe-threading machine.
Cut openings in floors and walls to accommodate pipe and fittings using hand tools and power tools.
Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings and pipes of different materials such as metals, glass, verified clay or plastic hand held and power tools.
Join pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints.
Fill pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking.
Install and repair plumbing fixtures.
Repair and maintain plumbing, mend burst pipes, and open clogged drains.
Completed Plumbing course at a technical or trade school or minimum of 3 years of experience working in the field.
Utilize basic math, a ruler and calculator to solve geometric problems associated with running Plumbing Pipe and fixtures.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, operate equipment and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environment.
