Performs in-depth research and causative analysis when discrepancies are identified as a result of physical inventories, warehouse refusals, Reports of Survey or customer complaints.

Determines the cause of record imbalances through collection, analysis, and evaluation of factors contributing to the inventory adjustment.

Initiates and makes corrective actions to synchronize the depot record with the physical inventory balance.

Generates the Financial Liability Investigation of Property Loss (FLIPL) Report in accordance with agency policy and procedures as appointed in writing by the proper authority.

Gathers data from automated systems to analyze trends of recurring discrepancies.

Conducts operational and systemic studies to causes contributing to physical inventory and location inaccuracies and validates data compiled using various ADP systems to resolve record accuracy problems.

Identifies and initiates new procedures to reduce inventory record error rate, streamline inventory processes, and comply with agency guidance.

Arranges special inventories to reconcile accountable records. Plans, develops schedules for and conducts inventories.

May operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and stock selectors to locate and move materials.

May lead lower graded technicians performing inventory functions.

To qualify for a General Supply Specialist, your qualifications must include: Education: To qualify at the GS-09 level based on education in lieu of specialized experience, applicants must possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LLB. To qualify at the GS-09 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full‑time study.
