Health Caseworker

The Center for Behavior and Systems Innovation (CBSI), buildingupon the nationally recognized HANDS in Autism model established in 2004, advances implementation of evidence-basedpractices through training, consultation, systems innovation,resource development, and community-engaged research. Guided by the philosophy that evidence-based practicesare "Essential for autism, beneficial for all," CBSI developspractical tools, professional learning opportunities,implementation supports, and resources that strengthen systemsserving individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD),neurodevelopmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, andbroader communities. Through interdisciplinary collaboration,implementation science, and responsive partnerships, the Centerremains agile in addressing emerging community, statewide,national, and international needs while advancing IndianaUniversity's missions of teaching, research, and service.

The Licensed Social Worker serves primarily within the IndianaResource Center for Autism (IRCA) while collaborating across theCenter for Behavior and Systems Innovation (CBSI) to strengthenstatewide systems of care for autistic individuals and others withneurodevelopmental and behavioral support needs.

Provides consultation, care coordination, and resourcenavigation while partnering with Training Specialists, Navigators,the Instructional Designer, and interdisciplinary project teams to develop responsive educational resources, family supports, and implementation tools.

Identifies emerging needs and helps translate those needs into practical resources, professional learning opportunities, andcoordinated service strategies that build local capacity across Indiana and beyond, through ongoing engagement with individuals,families, providers, and community partners.

Provides consultation, care coordination, and resourcenavigation to individuals, families, educators, providers, and community partners seeking support across the lifespan.

Assists individuals and families in identifying appropriate community resources, service systems, funding opportunities, and evidence-based supports.

Develops collaborative relationships with schools, healthcaresystems, community organizations, state agencies, and otherpartners to strengthen coordinated systems of care.

Monitors emerging service gaps and community needs to inform Center priorities and resource development.

Collaborates with Training Specialists, Navigators, and subjectmatter experts to develop, review, and update practical resources,guidance documents, family materials, implementation tools, and educational content responsive to statewide and community needs.

Contributes to the development of resource libraries, referraltools, and information systems that improve access to evidence-based supports and services.

Reviews and synthesizes emerging information, policies, andcommunity feedback to ensure Center resources remain current, accurate, accessible, and relevant.

Supports development and delivery of trainings, webinars,presentations, and technical assistance related to resourcenavigation, systems coordination, family engagement, and community-based supports.

Collaborates with the Instructional Designer, TrainingSpecialists, Navigators, operations staff, and project teams to ensure educational materials and resources accurately reflect evolving community needs and evidence-based practices.

Participates in statewide, regional, and national initiativesthat strengthen partnerships and expand access to high-quality autism and neurodevelopmental resources.

Maintains appropriate documentation, referral tracking, and resource records consistent with Center procedures.

Assists with evaluation, quality improvement, and reporting activities that assess service utilization, community needs, and program effectiveness.

Participates in strategic planning and interdisciplinaryproject teams that support the Centers' education, research,service, and implementation missions.

Performs other duties as assigned in support of Centerpriorities and community impact.

Provides medical social work services to inpatients and outpatients and their families including psychosocial assessment,supportive counseling, crisis intervention services, trauma focusedcare, discharge planning, information and referral, and participation in multidisciplinary treatment team, preadmissionplanning when appropriate; discharge planning; coordination of community resources.

Participates in consultative multidisciplinary treatment team, coordination of community resources, maintains database of patient population, treatment, intervention and outcomes.

Coordinates follow-up care and consultation with allied health professionals, the Department of Child Services, and local law enforcement.

Documents patient activity as required by department.

Serves as liaison to community agencies regarding patient problems or issues related to medical diagnosis.

Organizes and speaks in community educational programs on child maltreatment.

Identifies and pursues opportunities to enhance knowledge base related to programs, articles, staff education, or community projects.

Complies with all policies and standards, accurately documenting the medical record and serving as a resource when needed.

Complies with required standards for medical/legal reporting situations, and/or educates other professionals with responsibility for reporting.

Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or similar degree approved by the Council on Social Work Education.

Additional coursework or training in autism, developmental disabilities, behavioral health, systems of care, trauma-informed care, care coordination, or implementation science.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Experience providing care coordination, case management, resource navigation, or family support services.

Experience working with autistic individuals, individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or complex support needs across the lifespan.

Experience collaborating with schools, healthcare providers, state agencies, community organizations, and multidisciplinary teams.

Experience developing community resources, educational materials, or family support tools.

Experience in higher education, nonprofit organizations, healthcare, or public service settings.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Indiana upon date of hire.

Demonstrates a high commitment to quality.

Knowledge of community resources, public service systems, disability services, and healthcare navigation.

Strong assessment, problem-solving, care coordination, and systems navigation skills.

Ability to build collaborative relationships with families, providers, agencies, and community partners.

Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Ability to identify emerging community needs and inform development of responsive resources and services.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual communication platforms.

Adapts effectively to changing community and organizational needs.

Maintains confidentiality and uphold ethical standards of the social work profession.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
