Job Title: Phlebotomist

This Phlebotomist II position focuses on performing high-quality blood draws and specimen collection while supporting smooth laboratory workflows in a fast-paced environment. The role combines hands-on phlebotomy, specimen handling, and data entry with troubleshooting, training support, and process improvement recommendations to ensure accurate, safe, and efficient laboratory operations.

Perform venipunctures and blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.

Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients, ensuring they understand what to expect.

Verify all test requisitions or computer-generated labels against the prescription or script to ensure 100% accuracy before processing.

Store specimen samples at the appropriate temperature and place them in the correct collection containers or tubes, following protocol for each test.

Update patient information in the system accurately and in a timely manner to support proper test processing and reporting.

Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and all applicable safety and regulatory standards in the laboratory.

Answer telephone calls professionally and provide laboratory results or information to satisfy appropriate inquiries.

Assist in troubleshooting issues related to specimen collection, labeling, and workflow, and make recommendations to improve processes.

Support training efforts by demonstrating proper phlebotomy techniques and workflow procedures to colleagues as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Germantown, MD.
