Assumes full responsibility for evaluating patients' need for occupational therapy.Q (Quality), S (Service), P (People), G (Growth),F (Financial).

• Staff will provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification or registration and as required by law and regulation.
• Delegates responsibilities to occupational therapy assistants asappropriate.
• Evaluatespatient'sneed for medical equipment and orders theappropriate equipmentas necessary.Evaluates equipment upon delivery and instructspatient,patient'sfamily, and health care workers on its use.
• Participates in planning for patient discharge by considering and communicating with patient, family, community support/services, and environmental limitations.
• Demonstrates competence in relevant software and hardwarerequiredto meet job responsibilities. (Documents patient's status and progress throughinitialevaluation, progress notes, and discharge summary according toestablishedinternal/external time standards and adherence to reimbursement guidelines. (Communicates with others to integrate occupational therapy treatment with all aspects of patient care. (Instructs the patient and the family in occupational therapy procedures as partof providingpatient and familyeducationincluding written instructions as necessary.
• Follows all hospital policy and procedures including but not limited to patient confidentiality and infection control. (Provides discipline specific coverage (following cross training) within the Mary Free Bed system asrequested. (Adheres to the Mary Free Bed Standards of Behavior when working with patients,coworkersand members of the community. (Supports program operations as assigned. (May perform the following items to meetprogramor hospital needs.(Participates in orientation and training ofnew staff. (Serves asclinicalinstructor for occupational therapy students.Meet or exceed clinical outcome collection standardsestablishedby department leadership.
• Meet or exceed clinical outcome performance/improvement goalsestablishedby department leadership in designated programs.

Responsibilities in Quality Improvement

Graduate of an American Occupational Therapy AssociationaccreditedOccupational Therapy program.

• Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
• Licensure isrequiredin every US State andTerritorythe Therapist is practicing.
