PHLEBOTOMIST - Weekend Shift

Responsibilities Ensure total operation is compliant with state and federal regulations (e.g. Review and confirm donor identification and employ techniques to ensure donor comfort, safety, and product quality.
Set up and prepare equipment and supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis.
Operate automated plasmapheresis machines, manage adverse donor events, perform QCs, and document exceptions.
Disconnect donors and handle the disposal of biohazardous waste and contaminated equipment, including cleaning spills and following safety protocols.
Perform calibration/maintenance of automated plasmapheresis machines and remove and/or replace equipment from service, if needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, stock adequate supplies, and perform inventory tasks such as First In, First Out.
Mentor and train team members as a Designated Trainer, driving training efficiencies; upon completion of training, support QA-Backup or NexSys Technician duties as required.
Partner with Quality Assurance on overall donor floor performance including favorable performance observations, CAPA implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications High school diploma, or equivalent (GED).
Three (3) months’ experience in a medical or health care environment or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Completed documentation of training appropriate for duties, prior to performing duties independently.
Ability to use all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
Ability to view video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods.
Occasional exposure to and handling of dry ice.
Ability to perform precise tasks that require repetitive small motor skills, such as drawing blood for diagnostic tests.
Ability to work daytime and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis required.
Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to navigate the office environment safely, including stairs and elevators (if applicable).
Ability to travel up to 20% via airplane and vehicle (if applicable).
