Responsibilities
Create, submit, and publish Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) estimates to meet federal/state contracts.
Coordinate monthly and annual data collection from state and federal entities for LAUS.
Review and process the Program for Measuring Insured Unemployed Statistics (PROMIS) extracts.
Analyze employment, hours, and earnings data for Florida and 25 sub‑states under the Current Employment Statistics (CES) program.
Update CES time series with Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) data and verify accuracy.
Resolve data discrepancies and interact with BLS analysts via the on‑track system.
Collect state university data and enter it into the BLS Automated Current Employment Statistics (ACES) system.
Support the supervisor with operational duties, including running jobs and coordinating workflows.
Respond to labor market information requests from customers.
Assist in ad‑hoc economic research (impact analysis, job vacancy estimates, census data analysis, long‑term employment projections, report writing).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Knowledge of basic mathematical, statistical, and economic concepts.
Minimum Requirements
Ability to travel and work overtime as required.
As a condition of pre‑employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related social science; or 4+ years of research and analysis experience.
Experience using spreadsheet applications.
Experience using statistical software such as SAS or R.
Pay
$45,000-$48,900 annually
