Cook - Weekend Shift

Shift: Weekends (hours will vary based on operational needs).
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Cook II to join our food service team at a high-volume dining facility on Fort Drum. Monitor food quality, freshness, and presentation to ensure consistency and compliance.
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Uphold food safety and sanitation standards in accordance with health regulations (e.g., Assist with receiving, labeling, and storing food supplies using FIFO methods.
Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and supervisors to coordinate meal production.
Support junior staff with guidance and training as needed.
Respond to routine kitchen challenges with practical, timely solutions.
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience working in a commercial, institutional, or high-volume kitchen environment.
Minimum of 2-4 years of hands-on experience working as a Cook in a commercial, institutional, or high-volume kitchen.
Prior experience mentoring or supporting junior kitchen staff is a plus.
Experience operating kitchen equipment and managing prep timelines.
Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation practices (ServSafe certification preferred).
Basic math skills for measuring, conversions, and inventory support.

Physical & Environmental Demands:

The position requires standing for extended periods, with occasional walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.
Must be able to lift, carry, and move food items, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
Frequent physical activity including stirring, chopping, mixing, and handling kitchen tools and ingredients.
Repetitive hand and arm movements are required for tasks such as food prep, plating, and operating kitchen equipment.
Manual dexterity and fine motor skills are essential for precise cutting, measuring, and assembling dishes.
Work is performed in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, sharp tools, and moderate to high noise levels.
Personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, aprons, and hairnets, may be required depending on task and area; training will be provided.
