Our mission is to protect and serve the citizens of the Northern District of Oklahoma through the ethical, vigorous, and impartial enforcement of federal law. Attorney's Office represents the United States and its client agencies in civil and criminal litigation before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma and in appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

Attorney's Office is accepting applications for the position of an Assistant United States Attorney to serve in the Civil Division. The attorney selected for this position will work closely with federal agency and law enforcement partners to investigate and prosecute civil enforcement cases involving fraud, waste, and abuse in government healthcare programs, procurement, and other services. The attorney will also handle defensive torts (including property damage and personal injury claims, such as medical malpractice cases), employment discrimination, land condemnations, foreclosures, defensive environmental claims, challenges to agency actions, and bankruptcy.

Civil Division AUSAs actively prosecute or defend civil cases at all stages of the investigation and litigation processes including at the trial and appellate levels. Civil Division AUSAs also take depositions, prepare and answer discovery requests, negotiate settlements, engage in motions practice, conduct trials, draft appellate briefs, and argue cases before appellate judges.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof. If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, you must certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System, or are exempt from having to do so under the Selective Service Law. You must be a United States Citizen or National.

This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Occasional travel: Travel requirements typically entail no more than 1-5 days per month.

Successful applicants must exhibit superior research and writing skills, including spotting issues, developing arguments, and presenting rebuttal points. Successful applicants must demonstrate an ability to make critical decisions to successfully position the United States for an optimal outcome in litigation. Successful candidates should also possess computer literacy skills including experience in automated legal research, electronic court filing, electronic e-mail, and word processing systems and similar software.

Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. holidays; telework; life insurance; and participation in the Federal Employees Retirement System. Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses will not be authorized.
