Full-Time Service Porter Needed

Status: Full Time; Salary: $22 per hour (Approximately $40,040 Annually)

Location: Freedom House I (1171 Washington Ave) and Mandaela Service Center (1074 Washington Ave)

Days/Hours: Monday to Friday, 2pm to 10pm

The advocacy portion of our mission focuses on building a more just criminal legal system and reducing the barriers to reentry into society. The service side of Fortune has evolved to encompass a broad range of programs that started with employment and education and now includes a robust array of services, among them: alternatives to incarceration, supervised release, court advocacy, discharge planning within correctional facilities, licensed substance use and mental health treatment, a housing continuum ranging from emergency and transitional through permanent congregate and scattered site housing, assistance in obtaining benefits, a care management unit, HIV services, a food and nutrition program, and an arts program. Our program models are recognized, both nationally and internationally, for their quality and innovation. Responsible for keeping assigned area in a clean, safe and orderly condition by performing daily cleaning in offices and common spaces, as well as periodic heavy-cleaning activities, servicing and restocking restrooms, moving furniture and other assigned duties.

Must demonstrate the abilities to clean the agency facilities with a keen eye to details in accordance with the agency standards

Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming;

Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors;

Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures;

Dust furniture, walls, machines and equipment;

Clean and polish furniture and fixtures;

Requisition supplies or equipment as needed;

Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies either manually or by using hand trucks;

Strip, seal, finish and polish floors;

Secure building by performing tasks such as locking doors and windows after operating hours;

Serve as assistant fire warden during fire drills and real emergencies;

High school diploma or GED/HSE preferred;

At least 2 years of experience stripping, sealing, finishing, burnishing and buffing vinyl composition tile (VCT) required;

At least 2 years of experience operation light and heavy duty cleaning machines including, but not limited to, auto-scrubbers, floor machines, burnishers and stand up and shop vacuums required;

Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and chemicals to maintain floors required;

Relevant personal experience is a plus.
