Must-Have: Required certifications and general nursing skills; at least 2 years of nursing experience and 1 prior travel assignment preferred. SANE RN experience is a plus. Experience in a teaching hospital is preferred.
The unit cares for patients of all ages with a wide variety of complaints.
The department is equipped with 65 private beds and 2 trauma bays.
Nurse to patient ratios are between 1:3-5, depending on the acuity or needs of the department.
There is a minimum of 3 physicians available at all times, depending on the time of day.
Charge nurses are present during each shift to manage incoming patients and departmental needs.
House supervisors are on-site 24/7 for additional support.
Emergency Department technicians are available, with a ratio of 1:9.
Nurses assist in managing respiratory equipment and should be familiar with troubleshooting various devices.
Monitoring equipment requires nurses to interpret and act on patient rhythms; training will be provided for specific monitor systems.
Nurses draw labs alongside technicians, and phlebotomy staff may also assist.
Shifts consist of 12 hours, with a varying focus on day and night schedules.
Holiday shifts are also required, based on departmental needs.
Floating to other units is rare and typically not expected for traveling nurses.
Scrub colors are flexible, with a preference for tasteful solid colors.
