Geologist / Hydrogeologist - Remote

RK&K is seeking a Geologist or Hydrogeologist to join our Environmental / Water Resources Team in the Mid‑Atlantic. As an RK&K environmental scientist you will be actively involved in a diversity of water resource related projects for local utilities, government agencies and private companies to protect the environment, and provide water supply and water management solutions throughout RK&Ks regional footprint.

Essential Functions

Prepare task documentation and progress summary reports

Prepare lithologic descriptions and geologic profiles and summaries for water supply wells

Observe and document well construction activity to ensure compliance with State regulations, agency permits and design specifications

Perform on site activities, including well construction and testing inspection and well rehabilitation procedures or inspection in remote locations

Interact with clients and regulatory agencies

Collaborate with other water resource and environmental professionals

Permit compliance and construction inspection for deep water supply wells and Class I underground injection control (UIC) wells

Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Geosciences, Environmental Sciences or equivalent, Masters preferred

Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience

Professional registration in NC and/or Va with ability to become registered as necessary within RK&K's regional footprint

Experienced with MODFLOW / MT3DMS, SEAWAT

Experience with permit compliance and construction inspection

Team-oriented

Adept at juggling multiple tasks in various geographies

Excellent at written and verbal communication

Motivated to find creative solutions to environmental problems

Excited to work outdoors in all seasons

Ability to travel to project sites and work outside

Preferred Skills and Experience

Master's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or equivalent

Experience with field documentation methods and technical writing

OSHA HAzCom Training

Lithologic identification, geosciences background, construction monitoring, with CADD, and GIS experience considered a plus.

CPR/First Aid training
