In this position you will assist with implementing the day-to-day programming of the 21st Century Learning Center at partner elementary schools. This includes assisting with delivering the BellXcel program curriculum, as well as providing homework help, academic enrichment, and family engagement events. Research shows that young people from underserved and low-income families often start school underprepared and fall behind their peers as a result, creating an opportunity gap. Through focused programming and support, the Y is committed to closing this gap. The Power Scholars program uses evidence based curriculum and licensed teachers to support students’ educational readiness, engagement and outcomes, and emotional and physical development while also providing afterschool childcare at no cost to students or families.RESPONSIBILITIES:Supports the delivery of relevant and engaging lessons in groups of 12 to 24 studentsWorks closely with supervisors and teachers to develop and implement strategies for student successPrepares and organizes program supplies and tracks student attendanceImplements classroom and behavior management strategies to consistently develop a safe and productive learning environmentEnsures proper implementation of the YMCA of Southern Nevada’s Youth Development policies and proceduresPerforms all other duties as assignedABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS:Adheres to policies related to boundaries with children.Attends required abuse risk management training.Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.Adheres to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.Provide safe, secure and educational programs at the afterschool site.Impact the overall effectiveness of the association's implementation of the YMCA mission through youth development.Paid time offMedical, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance10% Retirement Contribution* and access to our 403(b) retirement savings accountFree YMCA Family Membership and program discountsJoin a supportive team and an organization recognized as a Nevada Top WorkplaceMake a meaningful impact in your communityAutomatic retirement contributions are made to employees 21 years or older after contributing 1,000 hours of service in each of two years.In the Y, we strive to live our cause of strengthening communities with purpose and intentionality every day.
