Paralegal Legal - Real Estate

Mariani Reck Lane, LLC is seeking a dependable, organized, and professional Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join our New London office. Our firm represents clients in family law, personal injury, probate, real estate and criminal matters, and we are looking for someone who can help our attorneys manage an active caseload while providing excellent service to our clients.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced legal environment, and capable of managing multiple deadlines and priorities. Prior experience in a law office is preferred, particularly experience with Connecticut family law or civil litigation.

Responsibilities

Preparing and formatting correspondence, pleadings, motions, discovery requests, subpoenas, and other legal documents

Filing documents electronically with Connecticut courts

Maintaining calendars, deadlines, court dates, and attorney schedules

Communicating professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, medical providers, and other professionals

Organizing and maintaining electronic and paper case files

Assisting with the collection and organization of financial records, discovery materials, medical records, and other evidence

Preparing files and exhibits for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials

Scheduling client meetings, court appearances, depositions, and conferences

Drafting routine correspondence and assisting attorneys with case preparation

Monitoring cases for upcoming deadlines and outstanding tasks

Assisting with client intake and opening and closing files

Providing general administrative and office support as needed

Qualifications

Prior experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal secretary, or in a comparable professional office setting is preferred

Experience with Connecticut family law or civil litigation is strongly preferred

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong attention to detail and ability to proofread legal documents

Ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, and competing priorities

Professional and compassionate demeanor when working with clients

Sound judgment and ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, electronic filing systems, and document management software

Experience with MyCase, Egnyte, or similar legal practice-management software is helpful

Paralegal certificate or degree is helpful but not required
