Microbiologist II safeguards product quality, patient safety, and regulatory readiness through microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, investigations, and data analysis to support Empower’s 503A and 503B compounding operations. The role ensures accurate, timely laboratory execution, identifies deviations, and drives continuous improvement, strengthening release reliability, compliance performance, and operational scalability.

Microbiology Operations

Testing Execution: Performs microbiological testing and environmental monitoring while maintaining data integrity and procedural compliance. Uses AI‑enabled lab systems and automated tools to accelerate result interpretation and improve documentation quality.

Laboratory Ownership: Maintains laboratory readiness through equipment monitoring, media preparation, inventory management, and calibration coordination. Uses data insights to reduce operational risk and improve testing throughput.

Partners with Quality, Production, and Validation teams to improve visibility and meet regulatory expectations.

Quality and Compliance

Investigates microbiological deviations, environmental excursions, and contamination risks, applying root‑cause methodologies and AI‑enabled trend monitoring to strengthen corrective actions and audit readiness.

Executes microbiology activities in accordance with cGMP, SOPs, aseptic processing standards, and regulatory expectations. Uses digital quality systems and automated workflows to maintain documentation accuracy.

Supports internal audits, regulatory inspections, and quality assessments through organized documentation and responsive issue resolution, using AI‑assisted reporting tools.

Identifies opportunities to improve workflows, environmental monitoring, and testing reliability through data‑driven analysis and operational collaboration.

Partners with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Validation teams to support investigations, process changes, and new equipment implementation.

Expands technical expertise in microbiology, aseptic processing, and regulatory expectations through training, research, and operational experience.

Strong understanding of microbiological testing methodologies, environmental monitoring, aseptic processing, contamination control, and cGMP requirements.

Proficiency using laboratory information systems, digital quality platforms, AI‑enabled analytics tools, and automated workflows.

Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.

Minimum 2 years of microbiology laboratory experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, food manufacturing, or other highly regulated environments.

Experience supporting environmental monitoring programs, microbiological testing, investigations, and quality documentation in cGMP or similar regulated contexts.

Familiarity with USP requirements, aseptic processing standards, laboratory investigations, data integrity practices, and digital laboratory systems.

Ability to work independently, execute with precision, adapt quickly, and collaborate within high‑performance teams.
