As an Emergency Department Technician at UVA Health , you'll play a vital role in supporting patient care within one of the hospital's most dynamic and high-acuity clinical environments.
This role offers the opportunity to utilize your EMT training in a hospital-based emergency setting while working alongside physicians, nurses, residents, therapists, and other healthcare professionals. As an Emergency Department Technician, you will be an integral member of a highly collaborative care team serving a diverse patient population across a fast-paced Emergency Department. This is a 100% patient-facing position where no two days are alike, and every shift presents opportunities to learn, contribute, and positively impact patient outcomes.
Support patient mobility, hygiene, and comfort needs
- Participate in trauma activations and emergency response workflows
- Assist with patient movement and overall department operations
- Emergency Department Technicians rotate through multiple areas of the department, including trauma care areas, triage support, behavioral health environments, and patient flow operations. Full-time team members typically work three 12-hour shifts per week, allowing for meaningful work-life balance while remaining fully immersed in emergency medicine.

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience: No experience required
American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required. Certified Nursing Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia

- Graduate of a certified nursing program
- P atient C are T echnician Certification , preferred National Center of Competency Testing
- Currently enrolled student nurses who have successfully completed the Clinical Experience and Didactic

The pay range for this role is $16.07 - $24.36 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
Job requires frequently bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only) . Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; 100lbs (Home Health Aide only) . May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
