Telehealth Mental Health Counselor-REMOTE

This full-time role will primarily focus on providing mental health counseling to arrestees as well as community members at our remote community health clinic. By employing standard therapeutic practices and crisis intervention methods, you will play a critical role in de-escalating mental health crises, determining necessary action plans, and facilitating interventions for those in need.

Work Environment\n This position is fully remote, allowing for flexibility while maintaining close collaboration with local law enforcement and psychiatric facilities. You will have access to a digital platform that facilitates communication and documentation, ensuring that patient information remains secure and confidential. The role often involves interactions in the field with law enforcement, which provides a dynamic and engaging work atmosphere focused on real-time interventions.
Provide mental health counseling and crisis intervention to individuals facing mental health episodes, ensuring their needs are addressed effectively. \Assist law enforcement personnel by training them to recognize and de-escalate mental health crises among arrestees, thereby reducing the necessity for forceful intervention. \Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations in collaboration with police during critical situations, determining the necessity for 5150/5585 applications for involuntary psychiatric detention. \Engage in effective case management by coordinating with various third-party entities, including the Department of Mental Health and local psychiatric facilities, for comprehensive patient follow-up. \Maintain accurate documentation of patient encounters and treatment plans, adhering to confidentiality standards and regulatory compliance. \Provide short-term, solution-focused crisis counseling to non-violent patients demonstrating acute mental health needs. \Support the logistical aspects of mental health interventions, including coordinating transportation to suitable facilities or shelters as necessary. \Patient Population / Client Focus\n The primary focus of this role involves working with a diverse population that includes arrestees and community members experiencing acute mental health challenges. Your expertise will empower individuals to navigate their situations, reduce the stigma around seeking help, and promote healing within a supportive environment. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. Strong interpersonal skills with the capability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including law enforcement, patients, and healthcare professionals. \Previous clinical experience, especially with psychiatric populations, is highly preferred. \Ability to utilize telehealth platforms for patient care is advantageous. \Additionally, we provide comprehensive benefits that include health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
