IMEG is hiring an Electrical Designer in Las Vegas, NV or Broomall, PA, to work closely with experienced engineers and consultants in delivering engineering solutions that support positive client outcomes. In this role, you will assist with the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems for buildings while helping projects stay aligned with budget, goals, and client expectations. You’ll also collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout project delivery. Primary responsibilities will include engineering analysis, design and implementation oversight of electrical systems for buildings. This position will be expected to work within the project’s monetary budget, train, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. Principal Responsibilities • Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively. Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication • Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects. Lead efforts in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives. Document design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete and fee expended • Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions. Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions • Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, and specifications. Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering. Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work. Identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals • Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager • Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phase Required Skills/Abilities • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings • Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; and proficiency in the use of BIM software and CTC Revit Add In Tools • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards • Proficient with energy compliance software such as ComCheck; Adobe or Bluebeam Revu; the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI) • Proficiency in Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc. Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays Education and Experience • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required • Engineering In Training (EIT) Certification preferred • 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry Physical Requirements • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noise Electrical Team Highlights • IMEG’s electrical engineers design power distribution, lighting, and specialty electrical systems for buildings and infrastructure • The team’s services range from medium-voltage campus power systems to facility interior electrical layouts, including emergency power, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), and renewable energy integration • Electrical designs prioritize safety and reliability while meeting each project’s unique needs • IMEG coordinates closely with other design teams to deliver seamlessly integrated, code-compliant, high-performance, energy-efficient solutions • Electrical teams support a range of project types, including data centers, hospitals, and K-12 facilities Locations available: As a 100% employee-owned firm, we offer the resources of a national design leader with the close-knit culture of a local office.
