Summary: The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants with the examination and treatment of UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis for our UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for performing and analyzing patient x-rays and reporting results to Medical Providers. Additional responsibilities include providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care Centers. In a collaborative manner, the Radiologic Technologist will provide support to Medical Providers, Medical Assistants, and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication. Education: High School Diploma required, Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required.
Work Experience: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire. State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist is required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law).
Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipment and protected during use. Prepare patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history; Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., Administrative: Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files. Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed.
Medical Team Support: Collaborate with the ordering/treating Provider to determine which procedures or views will best assist in accurate diagnoses and treatment. Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly.
Accurately positioning patients and equipment for optimal imaging results.
Selecting proper ionizing factors by adjusting/setting radiographic controls to capture clear, high-quality diagnostic images
Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance, cleaning of X-ray equipment, and managing necessary supplies.
Verifying image quality and ensuring images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
Identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor. Following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
