Head of Development & Fundraising

Waldorf Education

The Development Director at Sierra Waldorf School will work as a team with administrative staff, parent volunteers, alumni, faculty and board to direct fundraising and outreach activities at the school and in the community at large, while ensuring that the School’s commitment to human dignity and diversity is reflected in those efforts.

Nestled in the sunny foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, Sierra Waldorf School is a vibrant, fully AWSNA-accredited school serving approximately 133 students from Preschool through Eighth Grade. Our rural campus in historic Rawhide Valley, just a short drive from Yosemite National Park, offers a beautiful natural setting for children and teachers alike.

Reports to: Administrative Director

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Create and implement annual and long-range plans to secure major gifts and new donors

Manage the Annual Giving Campaign

Attend Auction and Fundraising & Outreach Meetings, build a strong volunteer base to participate in those committees and their events

Direct Annual Auction, solicit sponsorships from businesses and organizations and work with the Auction Committee

Oversee Fundraising & Outreach Committee and events; collaborate with Enrollment Director and PAC on creating a school-wide outreach plan

Work with the Fundraising & Outreach Committee to identify and execute a calendar of events as appropriate to meet/exceed budget goals

Maintain and order inventory for school store, including school merchandise

Work with the Finance Committee and the Administrative Director to establish an annual fundraising goals and budget

Track and report fundraising expenses and income and report to the Board

Maintain a calendar of all fundraising events that are happening in the school including grade fundraising activities

Development / Community Relations

Connect and develop relationships with current and alumni families

Develop and implement marketing strategies and materials that increase visibility of the school and communicate the core values of the school

Collaborate with Enrollment Director on Outreach activities (Walk Through the Grades)

Give presentations about present and future development at Sierra Waldorf School at community events, Board meetings and other venues as appropriate

Create and share quarterly newsletters to greater community

Contribute to weekly bulletin with relevant fundraising, outreach, or inreach information

Maintain the school website and social media pages to ensure that they are up to date and promoting school events and news

Coordinate 8th Grade Letters and lead Bridge Conversations with graduating 8th grade parents

Maintain a database of contact information for Alumni and other friends and family of the school community

Send invitations to Alumni and their parents for school festivals and other events

Coordinate Alumni events

Provide prompt acknowledgement and receipt of all gifts

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills:

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

Ability to relate to and honor all members of the school community and work as part of a team.

Ability to manage several projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail

Knowledge of financial-management tools and budget management

A high degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently

Problem-solving skills

Excellent organization and delegation skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Proficiency in Google Workspace

Desired Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Training in Waldorf School administration is a plus!

School Auction.Net , FACTS, Parent Square and Wix experience

Experience with grant writing and Capitol Campaigns

Required Education and Experience:

Two years of college education

Proven experience in the Development field, and in the fulfillment of a positive mission

Openness to principles of Waldorf Education, including administrative and educational principles, techniques, and methods.

Event Planning Experience

Time/weeks per year:

Average 32 hours per week, 50 weeks per year.

Compensation and Benefits: $20-$26/hour d.o.e., remission and retirement. Hours will generally be during school hours, Mondays through Fridays, with some evening and weekend events. 2 weeks of vacation to be used during school closure periods. 10 paid holidays annually. 2 weeks of sick leave per year.
