Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for our MedSurg unit, managing a diverse patient population. The role requires proficiency in inpatient care and the ability to perform nursing tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the MedSurg unit.
Monitor patient conditions and administer medications as prescribed.
Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient management.
Document patient care and progress in the electronic health record system.
Attend to the needs of patients recovering from surgery and those with chronic illnesses.
Manage care for both 'clean' and 'dirty' patient groups, including COVID-19 cases.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
BLS Certification required.
Valid nursing license to practice in the state.
Experience in MedSurg nursing preferred.

Unit Description

MEDSURG UNITS

Unit1W MedSurg: (Cost Center 3427)
2E MedSurg: (Cost Center 3424) # beds

1. W MedSurg = 28-Beds (all private)
2. E MedSurg = 29-Beds (all private)

NOTE: 2E MedSurg includes 2N & 2S but they refer to entire area of 2E as all one big unit Certs BLS is the only required certification
Ratios1:6-7 Charge Nurse/House Supervisor
They have a Clinical Manager Mon-Sat who acts as both charge nurse & nurse manager. They don't take patients unless the census is greater than 24 then they will take patients.
Nights has a resource nurse who takes a full patient assignment.

Nurse Aides: Both 1W & 2E will each have 2 CNA's on Days but no CNA's on nights

Nurse's Read Strips? No Drips Heparin & possibly MSO4 for comfort measures, but no cardiac gtts Vents Bipap, Cpap, High Flow - all managed per RT

Tele They can have patients on remote tele but there are no monitors on this unit. Tele patients are monitored remotely by the monitor tech on the 3rd floor
