Job Description About The Foundation for Independent Living, Inc. (We are a private, not-for-profit, community-based program for adults with varying cognitive disabilities and developmental delays. We are a long-term residential living program for adults who are ready to navigate the world with their differences. We offer a unique and rewarding opportunity for adults to thrive independently. Since 1985, FIL became a program which could enhance individual’s journey through the adult world; The Resident Support Professional will be responsible for guiding their residents through all aspects of life while encouraging independence. The ideal fit will have a compassion for adults with cognitive disabilities and developmental delays, high energy with a positive attitude, and is unflappable in highly stressful situations.

Experience in care for adults with IDD

• Must be adaptable and flexible with an evolving work environment
• Work directly with your team of residents of FIL and guide them through life and social skills
• Create a weekly schedule for your team of residents to ensure they are properly prepared for each week
• Conduct apartment checks once or multiple times a week to continue training or ensure apartment is clean, tidy, all appliances are in proper working order and there are no unsafe conditions.
• Mentor and guide residents in social interactions encouraging healthy relationships
• Execute activities planned for the weekend
• o 3+ years schooling and/or experience with adults with IDD
