The Elementary Teacher plays a pivotal role in shaping the foundational academic and social skills of young learners in grades K-5. This position is responsible for creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. The teacher will design and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with state standards, ensuring that each student achieves their full potential. Collaboration with parents, colleagues, and school administration is essential to support student development and address individual learning needs. Ultimately, the Elementary Teacher contributes to building a strong educational foundation that prepares students for future academic success and personal growth.
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
Valid state teaching certification/license for elementary education in the United States. (Experience working with children in an educational setting, preferably in elementary grades.
Master’s degree in Education or a related specialization.
Training or certification in special education or English as a Second Language (ESL).
Familiarity with social-emotional learning (SEL) frameworks and trauma-informed teaching practices.
Participation in professional development workshops or continuing education related to elementary education.
Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans across core subjects including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learning styles and promotes respect and cooperation.
Collaborate with fellow teachers, support staff, and administrators to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and individualized education plans (IEPs).
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student progress, behavior, and ways to support learning at home.
The required skills enable the teacher to effectively plan and deliver lessons that meet diverse student needs while maintaining an organized and supportive classroom environment. Strong communication skills are essential for engaging with students, parents, and colleagues to foster a collaborative educational community. Classroom management skills help maintain a positive learning atmosphere conducive to student growth and participation. Preferred skills such as technology integration and differentiated instruction allow the teacher to tailor learning experiences and enhance student engagement. Additionally, knowledge of special education and social-emotional learning supports the teacher in addressing individual challenges and promoting holistic student development.
