Litigation Attorney - Temporary

Job Overview A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced civil litigation attorney to join its team in San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation, particularly in insurance defense, construction defect, personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, premises liability, and general civil litigation. This role requires a dedicated professional with a robust work ethic, excellent leadership, case management, communication, research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.

Key Responsibilities Represent clients in civil litigation matters, including insurance defense, construction defect, personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, premises liability, and general civil litigation.

Manage and prioritize a caseload of multiple cases simultaneously.

Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.

Take and defend depositions as lead counsel in seven-figure, multi-party cases, including party and expert depositions.

Attend and represent clients at mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings.

Engage in substantial law‑and‑motion practice, including oral arguments.

Prepare for and serve as the first chair in trials.

Maintain active communication with clients, informing them of case status and developments.

Work collaboratively with other attorneys and support staff to achieve favorable client outcomes.

Requirements Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA‑accredited law school.

Active member of the California State Bar in good standing.

5-10 years of experience practicing civil litigation.

Significant experience in insurance defense, construction defect, personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, premises liability, and general civil litigation.

First chair trial experience is a plus.

Proven experience taking and defending depositions as lead counsel in seven‑figure, multi‑party cases.

Extensive experience with mediations, arbitrations, and substantial law‑and‑motion practice.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple cases.

Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Proficiency with legal research tools and software.

Exceptional leadership and case management abilities.

High level of professionalism and strong work ethic.
