The Veterans Integrated Services Network 17 (VISN 17) is a large network comprised of seven (7) healthcare systems geographically dispersed throughout the state of Texas. The VISN is supporting expanded bed capacity to meet the increased operational surge capacity throughout the state of Texas, and to support the VA's fourth mission by providing humanitarian assistance. Based on the current and projected future workload, additional staffing will be required over the next 24 months to support seven healthcare systems.

ProSidian seeks a Registered Nurse to support an engagement with The Veterans Integrated Services Network 17 (VISN 17). This position supports the current expanded operations and post-COVID operations to restore the healthcare systems to pre-Pandemic operations.

This is a Contract Contingent position and the Registered Nurse services shall be performed at the: El Paso VA Health Care System- 5001 N Piedras St, El Paso, TX 79930.

Graduated with a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree from a program that has been accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Registered Nurse with a current Texas State license including BLS certification and ACLS certification.

Demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.

Demonstrate proficiency using the nursing process in providing care for the clients with complex nursing care needs and be able to guide and direct others who provide care.

Apply the nursing process to systems or processes at the unit/team/work group level to improve care.

Identify potential client problems and take appropriate nursing measures to intervene.

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of client care consistent with accrediting/regulatory bodies, the VA, and Nursing Service mission, philosophy, goals, and standards.

Supervise other personnel and give feedback on their performance.

Demonstrate ability to work effectively with clients, families, or significant others, with professional and supportive personnel who provide client care and with members of other services.

Assess the physiological and psychological health status of the patient pre-operatively

Formulates and implements a nursing plan of care based on health data and surgical procedure and posting.

Plan of care that prescribes nursing actins to achieve patient goals and coordinates and organizes nursing activities.

Coordinates patient care needs with team members, including other disciplines.

Positioning patient properly for surgery.

Creates and maintains a sterile field.

Receive, handle, store and document prostheses. Performs surgical hand scrub, create and maintain sterile fields.

Provide equipment, supplies and instruments based on anticipated and unanticipated needs.

Uses and care for surgical instruments, supplies and equipment safely and appropriately.

Safe use and document of electro surgery unit.

Performs and documents counts.

Performs nursing actions that demonstrates accountability.

Performs and documents universal protocol.

Handle and care for specimens and cultures on an off the sterile.

Safely handle and transport medical gases and hazardous materials.

Performs circulating and scrub duties for general, urology, vascular, neuro, plastic, orthopedic, ophthalmology, pain management, oral, robotic, thoracic, and otolaryngology surgeries.

Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in keyboarding and basic computer operations.

Must have the physical capabilities to initiate crisis intervention measures and the ability and knowledge to perform nursing care in an emergency.

Training will be provided if needed.

Teamwork ability to foster teamwork collaboratively as a participant, and effectively as a team leader

Leadership ability to guide and lead colleagues on projects and initiatives

Business Acumen understanding and insight into how organizations perform, including business processes, data, systems, and people

Motivation persistent in pursuit of quality and optimal client and company solutions

Agility ability to quickly understand and transition between different projects, concepts, initiatives, or work streams

Organization ability to manage projects and activity, and prioritize tasks

Business Tools understanding and proficiency with business tools and technology, including Microsoft Office. The ideal candidate is advanced with Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word, and proficient with Adobe Acrobat, data analytic tools, and Visio with the ability to quickly learn other tools as necessary.
