Head of Merchandise, Beauty Retail

The Merchandise Manager (MM) leads Ulta Beauty’s store operations, driving sales growth, inventory management, and operational compliance while fostering a high‑performing team.

The MM reports to the Operations Manager, guides a team of Task Associates, and is accountable for shipment, replenishment, omni‑channel, price changes, and markdowns. Performance

Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed the store’s goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni‑channel and retail shrink.

Drive profitability through operational excellence, top‑line sales growth, and expense control.

Use store forecast and payroll budgets to support scheduling, communicate needs to the GM, and achieve sales and payroll goals.

Review, analyze, and respond to financial and operational reports including store visits and audit results.

Leverage company programs, tools, and resources to improve performance.

Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.

Maintain prompt, regular attendance and hold staff accountable to the Ulta Beauty attendance policy.

Build a highly engaged team that embodies the Ulta Beauty brand through collaboration, open communication, and clear priorities.

Support associate development through training, competency‑based feedback, coaching, succession planning, and individual development plans.

Participate in ongoing training, including brand and category education.

Execute the Guest Engagement Leader program to drive business results across all Annual Performance Goals (APGs) metrics.

Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.

Use the scheduling tool to adjust schedules and manage attendance during shifts.

Use the task management tool to prioritize and execute store workload, including resets, pricing updates, inventory tasks, and replenishment.

Ensure execution of all operational focuses: shipment, replenishment, omni‑channel, price changes, and markdowns.

Protect company assets and minimize loss through safety, inventory control, cash management, and loss prevention procedures.

Execute day‑to‑day inventory control processes and complete theft reporting as required.

Communicate business trends, opportunities, and challenges to field leadership.

High school diploma preferred.

1–2+ years of fast‑paced retail or relevant management experience.

Financial management experience driving top‑line sales, interpreting data, managing payroll budgets, and controlling expense.

Retail management experience monitoring inventory, achieving operational excellence, and executing merchandising directives.

Proficient with basic technology (POS, Microsoft Office, Apple devices).

Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment, and remain flexible.

Work a flexible full‑time schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Shifts may begin as early as 5:00 a.m.

Availability to work shifts on Sundays and Mondays.

Continuous mobility throughout the store during shift.

Frequent use of a computer, telephonic devices, and related office supplies.

22.00–$30.25 per hour with potential additional compensation through the bonus plan. Full‑time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits; part‑time positions receive dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
