Hospitalist, Hospital Medicine Physician - Nocturnist

Full/Part Time Status: Position Description: Are you passionate about teaching and eager to work in a leading academic center committed to changing medicine and healthcare? The University of Iowa Department of Internal Medicine is seeking faculty for a NOCTURNIST position in the Division of Hospital Medicine to grow their academic hospitalist group. The Division of Hospital Medicine offers extensive opportunities for faculty to engage in teaching students, residents, and advance practice providers, in addition to participating in groundbreaking health services research.
Most services involve resident, student, and/or advance practice provider collaboration and teaching. Hospitalist faculty will also participate in didactic conferences and can engage in teaching at multiple levels in the medical school. We provide career advancement opportunities including a longitudinal curriculum in medical education and options to pursue a Master’s in Medical Education Program.
Variety of Clinical Settings: We deliver inpatient clinical services at our tertiary university hospital (university campus), Orthopedics-focused North Liberty hospital (MCNL), associated community hospital (downtown campus), affiliated Iowa City VA hospital, and have a robust perioperative/consultative presence in our post-acute care rehabilitation hospital.
Innovative Work Options: Our team has been a pioneer in the realm of Tele-Hospital Medicine and Team-Based Care, with growing opportunities to participate in alternative care models and to provide care at a distance.
Nocturnist/swing-shift positions with APP-support are available and offer competitive pay differentials, up to 15%-30% bonus pay.
Cardiology hospitalist services allow individuals interested in cardiovascular disease to practice alongside heart failure cardiology specialists with advance practice provider support. Historically, former cardiology hospitalists have successfully matched in cardiology fellowships.

Successful candidates will practice in the area of Hospital Medicine, specifically covering shifts that cross midnights, and assume a lead inpatient role in our multidisciplinary care team.
We are actively recruiting part-time and full-time physicians at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in the Clinical Track, commensurate with experience and training.
