Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design and development of combustion systems and associated mechanical components while ensuring full adherence to codes and standards. You will serve as the technical authority for code compliance, working across multiple projects to develop safe, reliable, and compliant systems. This position requires a combination of strong design capabilities, practical knowledge of manufacturing processes, and experience with applicable codes and standards.ResponsibilitiesPerform detailed engineering calculations including stress analysis, thermal analysis, and pressure equipment sizingDevelop comprehensive technical specifications, design criteria, and engineering drawingsCreate and maintain code data reports, design documentation, and compliance recordsReview and approve vendor submissions for code complianceDesign pressure vessels, piping systems, and related mechanical components in accordance with applicable codesServe as the technical authority for code compliance, providing guidance to engineering teamsDevelop inspection and testing plans that meet requirementsSupport certification and recertification activitiesEvaluate non-conformances and develop technically sound resolution strategiesGuide manufacturing teams on code-compliant fabrication techniques and requirementsMentor junior engineers on code application and compliance practicesMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field8+ years of mechanical design experienceProficiency in GD&T principles per ASME Y14.5Strong CAD skills with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, or similar)Experience with FEA tools for stress analysis and structural validationDemonstrated ability to interpret and apply code requirements (ASME, API, AISC and ACI codes) to complex design problemsExperience working with quality assurance programs for pressure equipmentKnowledge of material selection considerations for high temperature applicationsFamiliarity with NDE methods and acceptance criteriaExcellent technical writing and communication skillsStrong problem-solving abilities and attention to detailPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldExperience with design and certification of high-pressure or cryogenic systemsBackground in aerospace, power generation, oil & gas, or process industriesExperience with risk-based approachesFamiliarity with welding engineering principles and ASME Section IX requirementsExperience with fitness-for-service evaluationsKnowledge of pressure relief device sizing and selectionExperience with pressure testing procedures and test oversightUnderstanding of design requirements for specific services (hydrogen, oxygen, lethal service)Culture StatementDon't meet all desired requirements?
