Head of Development (Remote)

Position Summary
The Director of Development is responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that generates at least $800,000 annually to support the mission and programs of the organization. This role focuses on cultivating and stewarding relationships with individual, corporate, foundation, and community partners while expanding referral partnerships that increase patient access to services. The Director of Development serves as the organization’s lead fundraiser and relationship builder, working closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, donors, sponsors, grant funders, and community partners to ensure sustainable growth and mission impact.

Key Responsibilities
Grant Writing & Foundation Relations

Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.

Write, submit, and manage grant proposals and reports.

Maintain relationships with foundation and grant‑making organizations.

Develop systems to ensure compliance with grant requirements and deadlines.

Corporate Partnerships & Community Engagement

Secure sponsorships, corporate gifts, and strategic partnerships.

Develop relationships with local businesses and community organizations to support fundraising initiatives.

Create opportunities for corporate engagement, volunteerism, and sponsorship participation.

Referral Partner Development

Identify and cultivate healthcare providers, organizations, agencies, and community partners that can refer patients to the organization.

Develop outreach strategies to increase referral volume and strengthen community awareness.

Maintain ongoing communication and stewardship with referral partners to ensure strong collaborative relationships.

Donor Stewardship

Implement a comprehensive donor stewardship program for new and existing supporters.

Ensure timely donor acknowledgments, impact reporting, and personalized communications.

Create meaningful engagement opportunities that deepen donor commitment to the mission.

Maintain accurate donor records and relationship management systems.

Event Management

Plan and execute two annual fundraising events.

Coordinate sponsorships, volunteer support, event logistics, and donor cultivation activities.

Evaluate event performance and identify opportunities for growth and increased revenue.

Leadership & Collaboration

Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to identify fundraising opportunities and engage prospective donors.

Support board fundraising efforts through training, strategy, and prospect development.

Represent the organization at community events, networking opportunities, and stakeholder meetings.

Serve as an ambassador for the mission and values of the organization.

Qualifications
Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

Minimum 3-5 years of successful nonprofit fundraising, development, sales, business development, or related experience.

Demonstrated success in securing grants, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, or other revenue‑generating partnerships.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong relationship‑building and networking abilities.

Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Proficiency with donor management databases and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.

Preferred

Experience in healthcare, social services, or nonprofit organizations.

Grant writing experience with a successful funding track record.

Experience planning fundraising events.

Familiarity with donor CRM systems and fundraising software.

Key Performance Indicators

Achieve or exceed annual fundraising goal of $800,000.

Increase donor retention and donor acquisition annually.

Secure new grant funding opportunities.

Expand corporate sponsorship and partnership revenue.

Increase the number of active referral partners.

Successfully execute two annual fundraising/community events.

Maintain high donor stewardship and engagement standards.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation for the position is $75,000-$80,000. Benefits include a monthly healthcare stipend, paid time off, paid holidays, and professional development opportunities.

Hybrid Remote Work: Flexible work environment with 1‑2 days per week in the office and 3‑4 days networking.
