Travel RN - Operating RoomAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with acute care and trauma experience for a fast-paced Level I Trauma Center surgical unit offering a first-time traveler-friendly opportunity.Work in a busy Surgery Room unit with 28 beds, including 2 hybrid rooms for CV/Vascular casesUnit sees approximately 60-75 cases per dayPatient population includes outpatient, inpatient, and trauma cases such as GSW, stabbings, transplants (kidney, heart), general, GYN, urology, robotics, vascular, ortho, neuro, and open heart/CABG casesHybrid room handles 5-10 adult cases per day including TAVR, AAA, endarterectomies, angiograms, and fistula revisionsApproximately 20% pediatric cases (open hearts, appendectomy, cholecystectomy)No liver or lung transplant cases performedParticipates in Gifts of Hope casesEMR: EPICEquipment includes Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensingNo floating requiredOR operates 24/7, 365 days a year with skeleton crew coverage overnight and after 1700 on weekends for trauma/urgent casesVariety of shift options including 8-hour, 10-hour, and 12-hour shiftsSchedule is rotation-based with no self-scheduling; assignments made 2-4 weeks ahead on a 6-week cycleWeekend rotation required every 4th weekend (Friday/Saturday)Holiday coverage required, including 1 winter and 1 summer holidayOn-call required, dependent on shift/service line, with a 30-minute response time; sleeping room available for on-call staffApproximately 3 call shifts within a 6-week periodRequirementsActive IL RN license requiredBLS certification required2-3 years of acute care experience requiredMinimum 12 months of core experience in specialty area, with most recent experience within the last yearCritical care experience preferredLevel 1-2 trauma experience requiredAbility to scrub and circulate requiredEPIC EMR experience requiredAt least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RNCandidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for considerationAdditional InformationSupport team includes charge nurse, resource nurse, anesthesiologist, surgeons, ANM, educators, service line reps, and EPIC super-usersCharge nurse does not carry a patient assignment Monday-Friday but assists on evenings and weekendsOrientation includes meeting educators and ANM, system login access, online modules, and EPIC training on day one, followed by unit orientation on days two and threeScrubs provided by facilityFree parking availableAll RTO requests must be submitted directly to the manager via emailFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyLocal candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictionsFormer Advocate Health employees or subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for a travel assignment
