Part Time Police Officers

The primary purpose of this position is to perform law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect and investigate crimes, arrest or apprehend violators, and perform patrols within the assigned jurisdictions. Responsibilities Performs the full spectrum of police officer duties within the assigned jurisdictions: Incumbent has full powers of apprehension and detention, which entails carrying a firearm, mirandizing suspects, preserving evidence and testifying in court as it pertains to enforcing regulations within assigned jurisdiction. Conducts Investigations/Surveillance: Conducts investigations of crimes and complaints covering a wide range of subjects and allegations that are not within the scope of Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) or the scope of the higher level detectives assigned to the Squadron. Performs as Base Defense Operations Center (BDOC) Controller: Serves as the primary command and control (C2) function for all Integrated Defense forces. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Must pass formal law enforcement training school as determined by AF/A4S and obtain DoD Peace Officer Standardization and Training Certification. Incumbent will be exposed to the day-to-day dangers associated with law enforcement and security duties. Incumbent is required to obtain first responder training/certifications in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care, and first aid on the job and maintain annually. Recurring training is required to keep the incumbent knowledgeable on the updated specialized tactics, techniques and procedures necessary for preparation and response to catastrophic events, terrorist attacks and related threats to installations. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, and include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the Police Series, 0083. Examples of specialized experience includes performing the full range of police and law enforcement services to prevent or resolve offenses; enforcing federal, state, and local laws to pursue and apprehend fleeing or resisting suspects; identifying and arresting violators based on eyewitness accounts; managing emergency dispatcher duties to pass critical directions and intelligence to patrol units; Knowledge of law enforcement procedures, training requirements and operating methods required to perform the full range of police officer activities independently. Knowledge of special operating requirements, methods, and procedures for enforcing specialized personnel access controls to prevent unauthorized access to areas where stringent security requirements are enforced. Ability to work and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community management, employees, and other law enforcement agencies. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
