Operations ManagerKCCI 8 News, the Hearst Television station in the Des Moines market, is looking for an Operations Manager who can help us win every big story in a big way. The right candidate will be organized and flexible, a good team player and someone willing to lead from the trenches. We are looking for an innovator and take-charge leader who can organize logistics for breaking news, daily coverage, and major projects. You will report to the News Director.ResponsibilitiesAct as lead production supervisor for big events, special reports, and investigative assignmentsHelp plan and execute multiplatform programming, including on-site productions and field productionsWork closely with our engineering department on newsgathering and production logistics, including upkeep of news technology assetsManage newsroom iPhones and MiFisIdentify and implement new technology to advance our storytelling across all platformsFoster an inclusive culture, encouraging collaboration and discussion to enterprise content in our diverse communityRequirementsFive years of newsroom experience, including some leadership experienceProven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentPossess broad understanding of broadcast operations and equipmentWork cohesively to execute strategic goals as part of the leadership teamMust be capable of lifting and carrying equipment up to 40 poundsDemonstrate superb organizational and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsMust be able to work flexible hoursCollege degree in Journalism or related field preferred, or related experienceMilitary DINFOS experience will be consideredDiversity StatementAt Hearst Television we tell stories every day.
