CUSTODIAN

The Custodian is responsible for cleaning buildings, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy. The Custodian will be responsible for vacuuming and buffing floors, shampooing carpets, emptying trash receptacles, and replacing the lining of trash cans.

Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
Move heavy supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Remove snow from sidewalks, snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals.
Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, and ladders to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.

Highly skilled in vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and applying finishes on different flooring materials and stairs

• Proven record of cleaning and sanitizing washrooms, showers and locker rooms
• Able to clean all fixtures and furniture safely
• Profound capability of maintaining janitor closets in a clean, organized and safe manner
• Demonstrated ability of maintaining janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition
• In-depth knowledge of modern cleaning equipment and chemicals
• Adept at using chemicals in a safe manner
• Able to operate janitorial equipment properly and safely
• Substantial knowledge of dusting and cleaning office desks and furniture that are not cluttered
• Well versed in inspecting premise and building
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Outstanding customer service skills
