Caseworker (Full Time)

Position Type: Special Education / Social Worker

The social worker identifies and assists students and families in overcoming barriers that interfere with learning, using assessment, counseling, consultation, coordination of school and community resources, and program development. The social worker utilizes knowledge of human behavior, social, cultural and community influences to help create a positive learning climate. The social worker collaborates with classroom teachers, parents, and the administration to develop and implement targeted goals and interventions, with a focus on ensuring that students are successful, and their educational needs are met in all school settings. The social worker serves as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and provides case management services. The District is seeking to hire two social workers for K-3 and K-5 schools.

Current and valid state of Illinois Professional Educator License with an endorsement in school social work.

Candidate must have a Master of Social Work from an accredited educational institution.

An outstanding knowledge of child and adolescent development, social and environmental conditioning, cultural diversity, and family systems.

Ability to develop IEP goals for students and to provide social emotional support through services and interventions that are aligned with ISBE's Social Emotional Learning (SEL) standards.

Provides individual and group counseling to students facing personal, social, emotional, behavioral, and/or academic challenges.

Develops IEP goals for students, providing social emotional support through services and interventions that are aligned with ISBE's Social Emotional Learning standards (K-8) and/or Early Learning Standards (Pre-K).

Actively participates in IEP meetings sharing data and information related to the student's social-emotional-behavioral and/or functional progress and performance.

Prepares, reviews, and submits a variety of requested reports and data, to ensure fulfillment of established program requirements.

Responds to crises and provides immediate support to students and families.

Connects families with community resources and services designed to support students both inside and outside of the school environment.

Advocates for students' needs within the school system and in the greater community.

Provides guidance and support to staff regarding students who may be struggling socially and emotionally at school.

Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, District policy, and administrative direction.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Qualified candidates may be granted up to twentyyears of verified full-time teaching experience for credit on the salary schedule.
