Manufacturing Cost Estimator

Job Description:Summary:The Estimator will be responsible for: reviewing customer quotation requests and proposals, generating and analyzing manufacturing costs and labor estimates, pricing and strategy development, preparing cost estimates and customer quotations, communicating with customers, sales, vendors, and internal departments, generating new part setup documentation, and processing engineering change notices.Work with sales to identify customer requirements (including materials, dimensions, tolerances, inspection requirements, documentation, certification, testing, packaging, delivery, etc.) Evaluate opportunities to quote lower cost, equivalent materials.Schedule as appropriate to review with Management to communicate on new raw materials, extremely high volumes, new processes, etc. to collectively determine quote strategyCommunicate with the customer to determine customer requirements, including visiting customer facilities.Communicate with vendors in conjunction with purchasing to secure pricing for materials or subcontract operations.Assist sales with the negotiation of changes or improvements to parts and/or prints, prior to quoting.Request correction for processes (when inefficiencies are identified)Calculate set up times and cycle times of manufacturing processesManage requests for expedited quotes from various sources and actively communicate target completion dates to the requestor(s).Generate die lines/orders for process tooling and work instructions for future Job Travelers, using previously completed cost estimates. Communicate RFQ status and key performance metrics (turn-around time & success ratio) to respective Boyd salespeople and Manufacturing plant personnel.Build and maintain database of material specifications, pricing, distribution sources and manufacturers of raw materials, sub-contractors, etc. Responsible for helping to generate samples for customers.Bachelors Degree or equivalent industry experience in Industrial Engineering or related field requiredManufacturing experience is required; pressure sensitive adhesive experience or web material converting experience is preferred.3 - 5 years’ experience working in manufacturing as a cost estimator is preferred.Proficient in MS Office: Excel, Word, AccessAbility to utilize AutoCADCore CompetenciesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to Lead a team towards a common goalCritical thinking, problem-solving and analytical abilityAttention to detail and excellent follow upWillingness to work overtime, as necessary, as workload dictates.This position involves being at a computer for long periods of timeLifting capability of up to 40 lb.We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
