Campus Safety Officer
The Campus Safety Officer is a full-time, benefited, position that maintains the safety and security of people and property on the college campus for 24 hours per day, 365 days a year. they will provide escorts for visitors, students, and employees; they will watch for emergency situations, suspicious activity, and campus policy and procedure violations; Hours of Work: Sunday - Thursday: Midnight to 8 AM. Screening will begin ASAP and continue until the position is filled. Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Staff, S30 level position. 24.08 - $29.50/hourly, depending upon experience. Essential Functions: This position is non-exempt and is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the principal responsibilities. Ensure a safe and secure campus by monitoring the campus and parking lots for suspicious activity, safety hazards, and campus policy and procedure violations.

Maintain a safe, orderly, and healthy campus environment by responding promptly to incidents, offering assistance and intervention when necessary to maintain peace and order; Performs periodic checks of fire extinguishers and ensures classroom safety tubs are stocked appropriately.
Secures all campus areas and locks all exterior doors at the conclusion of campus evening hours.
Foster a unified approach to campus safety by maintaining clear and effective communication with campus safety team members, supervisors, and coordinating closely with law enforcement or other emergency responders to facilitate swift responses to incidents and promote collaborative problem-solving.

~ Collaborates with local law enforcement to ensure officers and first responders are familiar with the campus and its layout to ensure that effective emergency response plans are established.

Support accountability and continuous improvement efforts within the organization by documenting activities by providing accurate record-keeping and routine reports and investigating safety incidents.
This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media. Customer and Personal Service – Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Public Safety and Security — Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
Conflict Management - Use of tools, skills and processes to find respectful and creative ways to resolve disputes and disagreements. Social Perceptiveness – Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Public speaking skills and ability to write/edit emails, letters, and technical reports. Emotional Intelligence – Ability to manage both your own emotions and understand the emotions of people around you. patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations). There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well

Minimum Qualifications : Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field from an accredited college or university OR 2 years law enforcement/security experience will be accepted in lieu of education for which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved. Two years of experience in law enforcement, customer service, or security role working in a diverse, multicultural community. Basic First aid/CPR/AED/Blood Borne Pathogens certifications or ability to obtain certifications within the first two months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications : Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field of study from an accredited college or university. 5 years of experience in a law enforcement, customer service, or security role working in a diverse, multicultural community.
