Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for maternal and newborn health and will possess experience in delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.Position OverviewThis position requires the candidate to work 4 shifts of 12 hours per week, focusing on the care of patients during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. The role includes floating to the Emergency Department as needed, providing OB-specific care alongside a primary RN.QualificationsMinimum of 1.5 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate course certifications are required.Experience in high-risk delivery and related nursing protocols.Familiarity with Cerner charting system preferred.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive care to laboring patients and newborns during delivery.Perform Non-Stress Tests (NST) and monitor fetal heart rates using External Fetal Monitoring (EFM).Administer medications and intravenous fluids as directed, including antihypertensives, insulin, and magnesium sulfate.Participate in the management and recovery of C-section patients.Conduct assessments for multiple gestations, malpresentations, and complications such as placenta previa and pre-eclampsia.Assist with vaginal deliveries, employing techniques such as forceps or vacuum extraction when necessary.Provide post-operative care to patients following cesarean sections.Conduct newborn assessments, including thermoregulation and identification banding.Demonstrate proficiency in neonatal resuscitation and management of newborn hypoglycemia.Float RequirementsThe nurse may be required to float to the Emergency Department. A brief orientation to the unit and supplies should be anticipated for the first shift at that location.Work ScheduleThe position typically consists of 4 shifts of 12 hours per week, for a total of 48 hours. Candidates must be willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays.Additional InformationThis position is not open to local candidates and is suited for those with travel experience in Labor and Delivery nursing.
