Senior Software Engineering

A technology-focused engineering organization is seeking a senior software engineer to design and develop integrated live, virtual, and constructive simulation solutions supporting the experimentation, testing, and training of multi-agent autonomy software.

This role offers the opportunity to work across the full software development lifecycle, including architecture design, modern C++ and Python development, simulation scenario creation, systems integration, testing, debugging, CI/CD, cybersecurity compliance, and customer deployment.

Engineers collaborate with software, systems, modeling, simulation, and autonomy specialists to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions operating within demanding defense environments.

Responsibilities

Software engineers in this role design, develop, and improve live, virtual, and constructive simulation solutions used to evaluate and train Tactical AI and multi-agent autonomy systems while balancing simulation fidelity, scale, time, and cost.

Engineers design and document LVC architectures, build simulation scenarios, develop adapters, translators, and complex interfaces using modern C++ and Python, and integrate internal, customer-owned, and third-party modeling and simulation technologies.

Additional responsibilities include researching new simulation and communication tools, conducting code reviews, debugging integration issues, contributing to CI/CD pipelines, documenting technical solutions, supporting security compliance, and translating customer requirements into robust software architectures.

Senior engineers may provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, promote strong coding practices and design patterns, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure LVC integrations meet performance, scalability, interoperability, and security requirements.

Required Skills

Experience developing software using modern C++

Experience using Python

Experience with live, virtual, and constructive simulation

Knowledge of DIS, HLA, or DSEEP

Knowledge of DDS, ZeroMQ, Kafka, Redis, or Protobuf

Experience with defense simulation tools such as AFSIM, NGTS, or flight simulators

Experience developing within Linux environments

Experience using Docker

Master's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, software engineering, modeling and simulation, or a related discipline

Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold or be eligible to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance

Willingness to travel approximately 25%

Preferred Skills

PhD in a related engineering field

Seven or more years of software development experience

Experience with OMS or UCI

Experience with MBSE or hardware-in-the-loop testing

Experience with high-performance computing

Knowledge of flight test readiness or airworthiness processes

Experience using Git, GitLab, SonarQube, or Artifactory

Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines

Experience working within classified defense environments
